Christian Savini is a curator, historian of photography, and writer from New York who is currently based in Washington, D.C. He has previously worked at various museums in the United States and abroad, including the Studio Museum in Harlem (New York), the Schwules Museum (Berlin), and HayArt Centre (Yerevan).
His research interests specialize in nineteenth and twentieth century American visual and material culture, with particular emphasis on photography, film, and memorials. More specifically, Savini’s writing explores the intersections of photography and material culture to understand how visuality and materiality shapes public memory.
Savini is an MA candidate in Art History from the City College of New York (CUNY), where he received first place in the Connor Writing Award for art history, and a BFA in Film, Photography, and Visual Arts from Ithaca College, where he was a Park Scholar.
