The Second International Printmaking Symposium, From Print to Pixel: Art, Artificial Intelligence, and Industry, builds upon the success of the inaugural 2023 symposium, which celebrated printmaking traditions and Armenia’s role as a regional artmaking hub. This year’s focus shifts toward the intersection of art and digital technologies, exploring how artists and technologists have historically expanded creative practice, and how AI now continues this dialogue.
The program addresses pressing questions about craftsmanship versus automation, originality and authenticity in the age of machine-generated art, shifting notions of materiality, ownership of AI-generated works, and the ecological costs of digital art economies. Rooted in printmaking but expanding across although extending to other mediums and forms of artmaking, the symposium offers a critical forum for artists, scholars, and industry professionals to examine past precedents, present challenges, and future possibilities.
This edition features 26 speakers from the USA, Germany, Denmark, France, Italy, Senegal, Armenia, Russia, Bulgaria, and Austria.
